Admission to the Art Gallery of Ballarat is free, however, an entry fee may be charged for special exhibitions. Free-guided tours of the permanent collection are offered every day at 2pm.
The gallery was established in 1884 and is known for being the oldest and largest of its kind in regional Australia. The permanent collection ranges in date from 1887 to the present and includes international pieces, Australian pieces and a rare books collection. Traveling and temporary exhibitions are also offered, from individual artists’ work to complete collections.
