Is the grind of daily life starting to become too much? Do you need to escape from work for a little while on either a mini or extended getaway? If so, we highly recommend accommodation in Creswick, a historic gold mining area that is only 16km north of Ballarat. When you return back home, we’re sure that you’ll be feeling refreshed and ready to get back to it.
There are a number of activities surrounding accommodation in Creswick that are sure to leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed, including:
There is no better way to relax than enjoying a delicious glass of wine whilst overlooking the vines that created it (some tasty food doesn’t go astray either). There are dozens of wineries in the area, but some of our favourites include: Captains Creek Organic Wines, Mount Beckworth Wines, Eastern Peak Vineyard and Winery, and Mt Coghill Winery.
Many people find a game or two of golf to be quite relaxing, so why not head to the RACV Goldfields Forest Resort? The emphasis of the course design is on environmental sustainability, so you will be able to enjoy the natural surrounds in between putts. The course is open to the public 7 days a week, but note that dress etiquette does apply.
For the ultimate in rest and relaxation, take advantage of the many practitioners in the area, such as Alchemy Therapy (who specialise in massage, facials, body treatments an spray tanning). Nearby Daylesford and Hepburn Springs are also known for their natural hot springs, so why not book yourself in for a soak during your stay?
If you’re the kind of person who enjoys getting back to nature, you might enjoy one the many walking trails found throughout the area. Some of our favourites include Park Lake (10 to 15 minutes), Landcare Trail (30 minutes), St George’s Lake (40 minute loop) and the Le Gerche Forest Walk (1 hour loop). There are also some longer walks to enjoy.
There is something quite relaxing about wandering through a market, browsing all the wares that are for sale. The Creswick Market is held on the third Saturday of each month and features a variety of stalls offering an array of products (from local produce to artwork). The Community Bazaar is also held on the third weekend of each month.
Why not treat yourself to something beautifully soft and warm for the winter? The Creswick Woollen Mills is the last coloured woollen spinning mill of its kind in Australia. They offer luxurious, high quality products made from genuine alpaca wool. Some of the items on offer include blankets, knitwear and accessories.
